Game Day, July 8, 2007
Today had a great turn out (the most we’ve had in the last couple of weeks). The members present were: Chemdog, Junior, SgtT, Hak, Berk, and Hammerhead as well as two guests JP and Chris. The day started with Hak forgetting his vest and mags, so we waited until his wonderful wife came to drop them off for him (way to go Hak!). Once everyone was ready we split into two teams for a bit of force on force fun. The teams were Chemdog, Junior, Berk, and Chris against SgtT, Hak, Hammerhead, and JP. After everyone received one medic card, Chemdog’s squad moved off into the woods to start the game.
Chemdog and his team decided to move up the hill and find a place to hunker down and wait for Hak and his squad. It wasn’t 10 minutes into the trek up the hill before Chris spotted movement on the ridge. The squad moved slowly up the hill, not sure whether they had been spotted yet. Chemdog and Junior engaged Hak and SgtT while Berk and Chris started to flank left. SgtT and Hak were eliminated with no loses on Chemdog’s squad.
Berk had a feeling that the other squad had split up so kept looking behind him, and it payed off. Hammerhead and JP had gotten within 50 feet of him before he noticed!. Berk then proceeded to pull a deer in the headlights move when he realized he had forgotten to put his weapon off of safety. By some miracle he got the gun off safety in time to get Hammerhead out and pin JP behind a tree. While Berk was busy engaging and eventually taking out JP, the rest of the squad took on Hak and SgtT who had respawed. In not too short an order Hak was hit and SgtT was the only one left. Berk and Chris moved up on SgtT’s left flank while Junior and Chemdog kept him pinned. Berk was hit by SgtT on the tigger finger as he brought his weapon to bear.
It was not long after that SgtT too was eliminated leaving only Hammerhead and JP to deal with as the others had been eliminated. Berk was still waiting the four minutes for his respawn when Hammerhead took several potshots at him. Berk moved, and once again Hammerhead took some more pot shots at him. Unfortunately for Hammerhead this gave away his general location to the rest of Berk’s squad. After respawning Chemdog and the rest of the squad moved slowly down the hill. Chemdog moved down a path to flank on the right while Junior and Berk moved to flank left. It was not long after that Hammerhead and JP were eliminated in quick secession.
The second game of the day came after JP had to leave. There were no medic cards issued. Berk and SgtT were to be downed pilots evading everyone else. SgtT was armed with his MP7 and pistol while Berk had only his pistol. They proceeded into the woods to start the game. After a delay caused by mountain bikers in the woods the game commenced. Berk and SgtT quickly made their way to a ridge where they could see both the road and make out the parking lot. They then hunkered down planning to let the other team move by them hopefully without ever seeing them. It was not long before Hak, who was not expecting the pilots to be that far along, came crashing through the brush. SgtT quickly eliminated him. Berk and SgtT decided to wait a bit longer in the hopes that they might be able to eliminated at least one more of the opposing team before making a dash to the extraction point. Unfortunately for them both Hammerhead and Junior started to move in almost directly towards them at the same. SgtT laid down some suppressing fire and then he and Berk made a mad dash for the extraction point. All was going well for them for the most part. Berk was ahead of SgtT when he heard SgtT call out that he had been hit. This made Berk run all the faster as he started hearing bbs hitting around him as he ran. Through some miracle Berk actually made it to the extraction point without being hit.
After a bit of downtime three one on one pistol matches were played. Hak came out on top in all three of them. SgtT had two hits on Hak when he ran out of ammo. Berk also had two hits on Hak and two on himself before he ran out of ammo, and Junior ran out of gas mid match.
All in all it was a great turn out and a fun day of airsoft. Hopefully we’ll see some of the guests back out on the field in the future.
