Classic Army CA36C Review
The Classic Army CA36C is a solid AEG. The body is made from a high quality fiberglass. I’ve taken a couple of dives with this gun and it’s come out unscathed. When wearing a full face mask, the stock has a tendency to get in the way, but that’s easy to accommodate by folding the stock in when and if it’s a problem.
I highly recommend the RIS foregrip as well. Being left handed, I find that when I fold the stock over, I can no longer hold the CA36C comfortably. However, by adding the RIS foregrip to the front of the gun, the CA36C with the folded stock becomes a great CQB weapon, and allows me more control of the gun in tighter places.
The hi-cap magazines for the CA36C, are interlocking and do not require extra hardware to connect them together. At first i was skeptical about the weight of having two fully loaded mags hanging from the gun, but I’ve found that this isn’t a problem either. Generally, I only keep one mag in the gun at a time and carry my spare in my tac vest, otherwise I can get carried away…
I’ve not made any upgrades to the internal workings of the gun and I’m very pleased with it performance, shooting between 280 – 313 fps. I’ve had no problems with the motor or bb’s jamming in the magazine. The 9.6v 1050mah battery held up through about 12 hrs worth of game time (using .20g bbs), granted that I wasn’t firing the whole time.
When the battery did finally fail, it was a complete shutdown. I didn’t notice a decrease in the distance of the bb’s really, the CA36C just stopped firing. At first I thought I had a jammed bb, but then I realized… um…I’ve not charged the battery after the last 3 game days.
Overall, I’m very pleased with the CA36C and I enjoy the folding stock as well as the 460rd hi-cap magazines. I rigged a 1 point sling up for it and find that it provides increased maneuverability of the weapon for increased field performance.
The one and only negative thing that I can find to say about the CA36C is that by the end of the day, it’s little heavy, but honestly, I’ve never noticed the weight in a firefight.
This AEG uses an 9.6v mini-battery. What’s important to remember about this is that you’ll probably need the mini plug adapter to connect the battery to your charger. I use the Hitech 2.4-12v charger with timer. This charger comes with the mini plug adapter.
