Game Day, May 27, 2007
Today was a light game day with only Itsahak, Hammerhead and The General showing.  The LU field was utilized with the games kicking off with Hammerhead and The General tracking ‘Hak. After repeated attempts to find the elusive ‘Hak, the father and son duo finally managed to track him down. ‘Hak engaged them and soon eliminated Hammerhead. The General made a valiant attacking effort but was also eliminated.
Next Hammerhead and ‘Hak sent The General on the run. Not fair because he’s only 13?? They beg to differ! The General left with Hammerheads’ AEG, while HH and ‘Hak were loaded with GBB pistols! The General was given a two hit out, while HH and ‘Hak had one. After a short time of searching, they engaged the attacking General. ‘Hak had to wonder what Hammerhead was doing as he started dancing behind the tree he was using for cover. What really blew his mind was when HH started running back down the trail! The game was paused when HH yelled that he had set his knee down in an ant colony and he was trying to get them off of himself! After he was de-anted (is that a real word?!) the game resumed. The General didn’t wait long before attacking his attackers again! Using his replica’s superior range, he kept flanking both his father and uncle until he was able to take them both out. Well played General!
The third game had ‘Hak and The General chasing Hammerhead. Again, ‘Hak and Hammerhead stayed with pistols while The General used the AEG. Outs were the same as the previous game with HH getting two. The General was able to hear where HH was moving and directed ‘Hak that way. After a very brief stalk, they encountered HH as he started shooting at them. They spread out and counter attacked with ‘Hak getting one hit on HH as he was trying to reload. The uncle and nephew team backed off to allow HH time to reload and re-gas his pistol then re-engaged on HH’s signal. HH hid in a great spot, amongst a bunch of brush. He again started the shooting, taking out The General. However ‘Hak realized that HH was reloading, charged and eliminated him with the second hit.Â
A very good, fun day, even if it was light on players!
BRASS and the Acme Spring Invitational
On May 19, 2007 B.R.A.S.S. participated in the Acme Spring Invitational. Also participating were Team PAIN, Team Acme, Kobra Kai, Democracy in Action, and F.A.T.E.
 Games played were
Cutthroat Medic
Killzone
Waypoint
Domination
OK Coral
Resident Evil
B.R.A.S.S. started in the second round of Cutthroat Medic. We ran and tried to move but seemed to run right into Team Pain around every corner. We drew the 7/11 building as a respawn point in the next game and basically just tried to get out of the building! That game did see a ‘Hak highlight as he went double pistols in a full on head first slide out of the doorway. It was a failed attempt to take out Jaberwaki. It ended in Team PAIN’s Jr. shooting him in the butt! We didn’t win a single game, learned a ton of stuff, and had a great time! We will be looking forward to the Fall Invitational!
One of the greatest things about this day was the total lack of attitude from all of the teams involved! Competition, desire to win, yes. Flat out ego and negative trash talking? I didn’t hear or see any of it all day! This was a great day of airsoft with no hit calling problems, ego’s or any of the other BS issues that could plague and event like this one! Big kudo’s to Acme’s Jawinn and Jaberwaki for organizing and running this event!
Training Day, May 12, 2007

In preperation for the Acme Spring Invitational, B.R.A.S.S. held a CQB training day. This was held at the Fire Training Ground. Present were Itsahak, SA, Berkelsk, JrHiJakor, Hammerhead, The General, and Bishop. Yes, it was the return of Bishop!! We were glad to see an old comrade in arms return! Also, Mr. Pelligrino “Pelli” Rengi and Mr. Travis Willoughby were there to assist. Mr. Rengi is a freelance photographer and took random pictures throughout the day. Mr. Willoughby, who played our OpFor for the day, is a former US Army soldier having served in the 101st Airborne and a combat veteran of the Iraq war. He still currently serves in the National Guard
The day started with some classroom work, going over diagrams of the basics of room entry. The we did some walk through’s of actually entering the room sans gear or replicas. After we had practiced that for several revolutions, we added the (unloaded and no mags in) replicas. After several more revolutions, we geared up and moved out to the 2 story Burn Building. Mr. Willoughby moved inside and took up his position. We spent the next two hours invading the building and engaging him. We were also lucky to have Mr. Jason Boteler show up later. MR. Boteler is a former National Guard member who spent a year in the Maryland area protecting power plants and what not after 9-11. He also played OpFor for us for the remainder of the training day. We finally wrapped up around 5 or 6 PM. All in all, it was a great day of training and the addition of the OpFor made even better!
Game Day, May 6, 2007
Today I invited a co-worker to come play, Robert. He’d shot my G36C, and I’d told him all the action and fun, but no description can do justice to the experience. We were divided into two teams, we were 1 short of even sides (not uncommon), so Seth, Robert and myself set out to defend ourselves from the coming on slot of Itsahak, SGT T, 1South, and Bart.
Of course the teams were fairly balanced, considering the opposing team was made up of two former US Military soldiers, a competition shooter and a law enforcement officer, and our team being made up of two guy who played FPS games and a visitor with paintball experience.
We were determined to make the best of it and surprisingly, we didn’t do too bad. Our first engagement went fairly quickly, and end up with all three of us waiting to respawn. While trying to determine our next move, the opposing team found us again, and made the decision for us.
We engaged in another firefight, Seth and I were taken our fairly quick, however, Robert held his own against the 4 opposing assailants and gave Seth and I time to respawn and come to his aid. We managed to reduce their numbers enough between the three of us that this time the firefight went a little longer than the first, but in the end, we were all sitting at the bottom of the hill plotting our next move.
We made a break for the path and took up position at the top of the hill, trying to gain the high ground and put the sun in their eyes. Again the three of us manage to hold them off for awhile, but in the end we succumbed to the trained professionals, and came to the conclusion that ‘hak shouldn’t be allowed to pick the teams
.
New BRASS Members!
B.R.A.S.S. has added three new members to its roster! Join us in welcoming Hammer, Sgt T, and Eric to our ranks! All three have shown the honor and integrity and teamwork needed to be included in the B.R.A.S.S. family! Congratulations guys!!
Game Day, March 18, 2007
Games were held at the Liberty Field. Sealed Card Medic System was in place. Present at todays game were:
Itsahak, Stealth, Skibum, Chemdog, Sgt T (first game as an official B.R.A.S.S. member!), and Bart.
Games started with a 3 on 3 elimination match. Teams were Skibum, Chemdog and Bart (Team SCB)vs. Itsahak, Stealth, and Sgt T (Team ISS). ISS moved to the roadway and proceeded toward the staging area. Before they had gone 20 yards, they began to experience comm troubles. They decided to try and sneak to the staging area and replace the messed up ear pieces. While sneaking their way down, they actually found the SCB team. ISS bellied down and waited for SCB to pass by. Unfortunately, SCB began to swing their way. ‘Hak finally could wait no longer, with both Bart and Chem bearing down on him. He opened fire on Bart, but Bart had seen him a split second earlier and was taking cover. ‘Hak got out of there quickly while Stealth covered the six and Sgt T set up on the far side of the road. Intent on keeping the SCB teams attention, ‘Hak began a leap frog and fire action up the far side of the road and to the edge of the staging area. Making it to the debris on the edge of the staging area, ‘Hak continued to engage all three SCB members. Sgt T and Stealth attempted to reinforce from the side, but were to late, with ‘Hak getting hit. As ‘Hak settled back for his respawn time, the collective of SCB move across the small valley to engage Stealth and Sgt. T. ‘Hak respawned and was able to eliminate Bart before they realized he was back up. However, both Skibum and Chem turned their attention to him and he had to scoot on! ‘Hak rejoined his team on the far side of the road. Stealth had been hit at this point and was waiting to respawn. The remaining members of ISS kept the two SCB members across the road briefly before they began to move in. ‘Hak noticed Bart slipping up the side of the staging area and took him out again. Sgt T took a hit shortly thereafter, and having issues with his replica went out. Stealth respawned, and he and ‘Hak continued to sling plastic wrath with Skibum and Chemdog. After a short foot race for cover against Chemdog, ‘Hak soon took his last hit and went out. With both Chemdog and Skibum after him, Stealth was soon out for good as well.
Game Day March 11, 2007
B.R.A.S.S. held a day of games today. Present were
Itsahak, Stealth, Skibum, Chemdog, Sgt T, Eric, Berkelsk and Ryan.
The day started with a scenario written up by Chemdog. Here is the basics breifing
Oil Refinery Defend & Assault

Terrorists: 4-8 members
Marines: 2-4 members
Blackhawk Security Team: 2-4 members

There is an oil refinery that is a hub for distribution of oil to several American oil companies and vital to oil importing for the US. A unit of terrorists have been sent out to place a timed bomb at the refinery to destroy a section of the pipeline to disrupt production and spike oil prices to the US. They must retrieve the bomb first from a bunker, then proceed to the refinery target. They have also been instructed to kill all American personnel including a Blackhawk Security Force that has been contracted to provide additional support to the Marines. They have also been instructed to kidnap one of the Blackhawk SF and take him back to be executed live on Al-Jazeera.
Objectives:
Terrorists:
-
Retrieve bomb to be place at refinery
-
Place bomb at designated location on pipeline
-
Eliminate as many American personnel as possible
-
Kidnap Blackhawk contractor
-
Extract with kidnapped contractor
Marines:
-
Defend pipeline
-
Prevent placement of bomb/ Secure bomb if possible
-
Eliminate all terrorists
-
Prevent kidnapping of contractor
Blackhawk
-
Eliminate terrorists
-
Defend Pipeline
-
Attempt to locate bomb at bunker before the terrorists
-
Prevent kidnapping of contractor
Time: 1 hour
Respawn rules:
Terrorists: 4 medic cards
Marines: 2 medic cards
Blackhawk: 2 medic cards
Scenario Completion: The scenario is complete either when time expires or when the terrorists complete all their objectives. Marines/ Blackhawk must defend the pipeline until time expires to win the scenario
The teams were Itsahak, Skibum, Chemdog and Eric as the terrorists, Stealth and Sgt T as the Marines, and Berkelsk and Ryan as the Blackhawk operatives. Chemdog lead the terrorist group up the side of the ridge towards the pipeline. Shortly before encountering the pipeline itself he spotted Stealth defending the pipeline. Skibum sent Itsahak and Eric to the right flank to draw attention. Soon, ‘Hak and Eric were engaged with Stealth and Sgt T.
Skibum and Chemdog were engaged with Berkelsk an Ryan on the other side, and after taking them out, began to engage Sgt. T at the pipeline. They were able to eliminate him, allowing ‘Hak and Eric to double team Stealth. During that time, Ryan had respawned and showed up to support Stealth. Suddenly, Ryan moved out behind Stealth, just about the time Stealth and Eric were both hit. ‘Hak moved up and shot Ryan between the trees only to find out that Ryan was having trouble with his AEG. ‘Hak was able to plant the bomb, called for the extract over the radio and then ran for his life as fast as his stubby legs could carry him! Unfortunately, he forgot they had to secure a hostage.
Thankfully Chemdog and Skibum remembered and zeroed in on Stealth. With Chem, Ski, and ‘Hak moving in on him, Stealth put up a valiant effort, actually taking out ‘Hak in a blazing rush forward. Soon, Eric respawned as did ‘Hak, and Stealth found himself facing all 4 terrorists. Shortly he was taken hostage, and as he was “wounded” ‘Hak threw him over a shoulder and took off for the extraction point. Stealth decided he’d had enough bouncing around and decided to walk, about the time the terrorists encountered the rest of Stealth’s group. They had all expended their respawns, so the game was called.
This was Chemdog’s first foray into scenario writing. He did a good job of keeping the game rules interesting and on point. B.R.A.S.S. looks forward to more good things in the future from his efforts!
Next a “Capture The Flag” game was played. The flag was placed in the bottom of the small valley just off of the staging area. Skibum, Chemdog, Berkelsk, and Ryan started off on the staging area side, and ‘Hak, Stealth and Eric began on the far side. Sgt T had already left for home, as his WIFCOM is due to give birth any day (Congrats to Sgt T!!!). This game lasted all of eight minutes with so much action it is impossible to recall it all. Suffice it to say that Skibum and Ryan set up on their top side and provided cover fire while Berkelsk and Chemdog maneuvered in to grab the flag and bring it back to their AO for the win. It was noticed after the game that almost every player had expended at least a high caps worth of bb’s! Not something B.R.A.S.S. does very often, but it was fun!
After this Skibum had to leave, as he was still feeling the effects of his bout with the flu from last week. Chemdog and ‘Hak decided to take on Stealth, Eric, Berkelsk, and Ryan. Chem and ‘Hak started out down the road and the others started at the staging area. The two man team soon found the larger group moving through the woods. They dropped flat to the road and watched as the foursome moved past. They briefly shadowed the larger group until they moved up toward the top of the ridge. Chem and ‘Hak moved out down the road toward the staging area. Half way to the berm, they heard Stealth and crew moving through the woods up front and to the right of them. They also heard Stealth’s allergy issues as he began to sneeze several times! Attempts to find and engage them were unsuccessful though. Chem and ‘Hak were all the way at the top of the ridge when Stealth began to talk “poo-poo” over the common radio channel. They moved back down the trail and finally encountered the 4 man assault crew on the main road. After several minutes of intense firefighting, that resulted in one of the larger group being eliminated completely, Chem was hit, and ‘Haks battery died. As the other three combatants were moving in, that was the game!
Overall it was a great day of games! B.R.A.S.S. is on the verge of becoming the main force for Southwest Virginia airsoft!
BRASS Game March 4, 2007
On March 4, 2007 B.R.A.S.S. held a day of games. Present were -
Itsahak, SA, Stealth, Skibum, Chemdog,Hammer, Sgt T, Eric, Berkelsk, Bart
As everyone was gearing up, it was announced that Skibum would be serving as the new Squad Leader for Raptor, effective immediatly. Congrats Skibum!!
To start the day, a re-running of Operation: Pick Up was done. In this version, a Minnesota militia group had stolen several components to a single use, mobile missile launcher system. The pieces were spread out over a 25 acre area to ensure that the nearby nuclear plants advanced warning systems could not detect them. The militia’s stated target was a local political/religious figure and his university. Playing the part of a Private Military Contractor group, Skibum lead the Raptor squad and its additions of Sgt T, Eric, and Bart into battle against Itsahak, Stealth, Hammer and Berkelsk. Being a PMC, Skibum and the boys hired SA when he showed up late.
Pieces to be collected were a computer keyboard, a guidance piece, a power source, an ignition solicitor and the missile itself. Any intel units found at the sites were also to be collected and turned over to the proper authorities.
The group approached Objective 1 with ease, finding no resistance. Within 10 yards of leaving Obj. 1, they were assaulted, but were able to throw off the group. They found themselves assaulted again within another 100 yards, and lost several of their members. Ultimately the PMC group found and collected Obj 1.
The PMC group split into two sections and hit Objective 2 hard! They virtually destroyed the Militia defenders, showing a group effort, and team work that was second to none.
On the way to Objective 3, the PMC group actually ambushed the ambushers, pushing them back to the objective itself. After a short but fierce firefight, they were able to obtain the objective. (It must be mentioned here that Itsahak successfully shot SA, sending him back to a short respawn!)
At Objective 4, the PMC group again split up and engaged the Militia. The group led by SA was able to hold the Militia’s attention and Skibum and Chemdog walked right up the back door and eliminated them.
Objective 5 would prove to be a hard sell, as Stealth led Hammer and Berkelsk in a great holding effort, keeping the PMC from crossing the dam. Itsahak was able to slide around the lake and come up behind the PMC group, however just as he was about to play the ultimate hero and commit mass slaughter he ran into SA watching their six. ‘Hak and SA exchanged shots and eliminated each other. The PMC group was able to obtain the missile and make it to the extraction point, winning the game.
It was a great effort on both squads parts and showed great leadership ability on the part of Raptor’s new leader!
Next the Deathmatch, with the Ghost team option was run. Teams were Itsahak and SA starting at the pond, Skibum and Berkelsk, starting at the Tree Stand, Stealth and Bart starting at the Staging Area, and Chemdog volunteering to Lone Wolf it, beginning at the Ridgetop. At the go code, SA and ‘Hak charged in hard, quickly encountering Skibum and Berkelsk. ‘Hak lined up Skibum in his scope, and squeezed the trigger. Only to find that he had committed the most cardinal of airsoft sins. His safety was still on!!!!!!! SA engaged but was quickly taken out by the two on one situation. ‘Hak made himself scarce, running into Chemdog coming off of the ridge. After a brief exchange of fire, ‘Hak and ‘Chem teamed up. At the top of the ridge, they ran into Stealth and Bart. Chem was eliminated and ‘Hak again made tracks. Attempting to double back and surprise the aforementioned groups, ‘Hak was taken out by Stealth. As ‘Hak was the third person eliminated, the Ghost Squad was up! SA, Chem and ‘Hak headed back into the fray, only to witness an interesting event. Stealth and Bart, and Skibum and Berkelsk had engaged each other. The end result was Bart being eliminated by Skibum, and Stealth and Berkelsk eliminating each other. Suddenly it was 6 on one and poor Skibum was on the move! Never being one to run away from a fracas, Skibum bedded down behind cover and engaged the Ghost Squad! However the Ghosties were able to flank him from both sides and get the “kill”.
Overall it was a great day with good sportsmanship, and safe airsoft play being shown by all!
Game on Feb 18, 2007
B.R.A.S.S. held a game today, Sunday Feb. 18, 2007. Present was Itsahak, Stealth, Hammerhead and The General with Visitors Sgt T, and Brian.
The first game was a dual object retrieval game with a “satellite intel box” (okay so its really a computer part, but hey) and an ICBM (Inter Continental Ballistic Pipe). The items were placed at different areas. Itsahak, Hammerhead and Then General set up and were to defend the objects. Stealth, Sgt T. and Brian were to assault and retrieve the objects. The Sealed Card Medic System was used. Hammerhead and The General stayed in the center section of the field while Itsahak attempted to come up behind Stealth and crew. ‘Hak was successful in coming up on their six only to find them on guard. After a brief fire fight with ‘Hak outnumbered 3 to 1 and flanked by Brian and Sgt. T on opposite sides ensued with ‘Hak being taken out. Stealth and his squad had already retrieved the first objective. ‘Hak retreated to the top side of the ridge, re-spawned and re-engaged. At this point, ‘Hak, Hammerhead and The General linked up and set up a perimeter around the missile objective. Hammerhead radioed in that the OpFor was in sight. ‘Hak was able to ambush one member of the OpFor, but soon came under fire from Stealth. The General and ‘Hak engaged Stealth in a losing battle of distance. Hammerhead was able to take out Brian just as he reached the missile, only to be taken out by the combined force of Stealth and the re-spawned Sgt. T. A well played game!!
For the days second game, ‘Hak, Stealth, and Sgt. T teamed up for a force on force game against Hammerhead, The General, and Brian. Way to much happened in the 45 minute time limit to go into details with, but suffice it to say that contact was made very early and a large and long firefight ensued with many hits and re-spawns on both sides. The final tally ended with ‘Hak down to his last life, Sgt. T with 2 left and Stealth untouched. The General and Hammerhead were both out, and Brian was running. Brian however pulled a fast one and simply vanished! ‘Hak and the boys spent the rest of the time limit in an unsuccessful attempt to find Brian. Another well played, tactical round!
